RSA 2000 Legislation
Effective January 1, 2002, the provincial government introduced
the new Revised Statutes of Alberta (RSA). The RSA 2000 has affected
all of Alberta's statutes (legislation).
The new statutes:
have a different numbering system,
have been written in gender-neutral language (removed references
to "he" or "she"),
and have been written in plainer language.
The RSA 2000 changes affect all the legislation that the Appeals
Commission is bound by, such as:
the Workers' Compensation Act,
the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act,
the Interpretation Act,
and the Mechanical Recording of Evidence Act.
The most significant change affecting the new statutes is the
new numbering of all the sections of the Acts.
Copies of the Revised Statutes of Alberta are available from
the Alberta Queen's Printer.
